"Another day another adventure",I said chuckling "I heard the New World was supposed to be full of adventures and wonder, I am beginning to think otherwise *sigh*", I said as I walked down Coimbra. Suddenly I noticed an Old Woman there, it would seem that people would just pass her by I walked closer as I felt something emanating from her, an enigmatic aura if you will, I felt a new adventure on the horizon and so I talked to her. "Young man would you be so kind as to help me fulfill my last ambition I have grown old and with these old bones of mine I cannot travel far to do it... I have nothing to offer you but my thanks", she said. "What is it you wish to do old one I would be more than willing to help you fulfill this last wish of your's", I replied. "Thank you young man you see in my youth I was a pioneer much like yourself and I wished to see beauty in this world but alas time flies and sadly I wasn't able to see it all", she said "But all I want you to do now is find 7 rare flowers in this world they only grow in those places the Morezan Well Lily, the Tetran Gravekeep , the Bellian Cabin Orchid , the Mansion's Moonlace , the Stonepetal of Joaquin, the Ustiur Millet Sunbloom and The Katovic Ice Rose and may you put them in this pot so they may not wilt in your long journey". "Very well, I shall find these flowers for you on my honor as a pioneer" I agreed. I left Coimbra well prepared for the task ahead.
My first stop was Al Quelt Moreza where it is said that the Well Lily grows. I pondered for a moment as to where i could find such flora, and suddenly i remembered that I once drew water from the tainted well deep inside the cursed cathedral as a favor to the Chef Panfilo De Nervaez, and chance may have it that I saw such flora only to only have been ignored by my sheer disregard for all such wonder. And so I wandered deep inside to find the cursed well I walked for hours fending myself from fiends and beasts that were once men, for a moment I thought I was lost but then I remembered I had brought a map with me perchance my ignorance has misguided me yet again, after it would seem as an hour I finally found the well. I peered deep into the well, darkness I would presume would be found in the well only to have been surprised by what I have seen. A growth of several lilies perched on the side of the well as far as the eye could see their luminescent glow left me in awe as I plucked one from the many and placed them in the mysterious pot the old lady had given me. It's iridescent bluish green glow from the petals to the stem its pure white petals glowing in such light only to have a single tinge of black staining its otherwise pure beauty I was left in awe. I felt regret that I did not notice such beauty in front of me when I last came here maybe I was just too busy that I did not even bother to peer in the well. As I left I felt a feeling of great accomplishment and awe and looked forward to the next wonder I have not noticed. As I left I prayed for all the souls corrupted in such a place.
I walked over to the waypoint and moved over to Tetra to find the flower known as the Gravekeep. I pondered for a moment to remember if i saw a flower in this barren and desolate desert-like area. I would recall my previous adventures here i guess they weren't half bad although... I could not recall any bit of flora here I searched for hours high and low in the ruins and across the hills evading phobitans and daemons as I crossed these places in the sweltering heat. I chanced to rest in the colony area in the hills when all of a sudden a passing breeze brought a scent undeniably of flowers across the torn walls of this gladiatorial-like arena where the colony rests. I followed the scent behind the wall that seemed like seats lined I looked down as the sweltering afternoon heat pricked down upon my skin to find something brown what seemed like flowers. I went down to take a look I saw a small grove of flowers lining the walls that oddly seemed familiar. What luck that I would find them here. But before I plucked one for the old lady I saw an engraving upon the walls. It read "In the memory of all those who lost their lives in the pioneering incident on April x may their souls rest in peace". I took a moment to pray for these lost souls and poured a bit of the water I carried with me onto the flowers. I then realized where I had seen these flowers before. When I was younger I would often visit the graves of our ancestors in our homeland we were told that these flowers only grew upon those that died unjustly or felt that way so we had to pray for their peace. I had only to wonder how these flowers were planted here or how they got here true to their name the Gravekeep truly watches their graves. I plucked the flower then smelled it's delicate aroma the scent so appeasing that it calmed my unsteady nerves from tiredness, it's brown color blending into the desert was calming to the eye after spending hours searching. I then bid the fallen and the desert garden goodbye and willed peace to their souls.
As I walked over once again to the waypoint this time headed for Porto Bello I thought of how many things I missed just waiting around the corner for me...
I arrived in Porto Bello unscathed and began to think again where I could find this piece of flora, but alas my memory says nay that being said I just began searching around at random. Hours passed and I wasn't even able to catch a glimpse of such flora. I chanced upon an old man around the Desolate Cliff he asked me for food and I obliged and gave him some since the days grow tough on us all. He asked, "What brings you to this place young man?". I replied, "Just searching for flowers and an adventure perhaps...". He chuckled and we bid each other goodbye. I turned my efforts to my search once again, I spent a day searching, my clothes beginning to wear down as my body as well. I then turned my efforts to find a place to rest for the night. I then chanced across a lonely hut in the Deserted Quay, it seemed ramshackled and run down but I could sense a homely feel toward it I knocked on the door to find the old man I met earlier. He bid me to enter. I thanked him in kind. I found the interior well maintained and asked him why he stayed here. He then began his story "Twas a long time ago the days of pirates... the ship I was on was carrying presents for the mainland... we were then ambushed by pirates my friends and all the ship's hold devoured by the sea... only my children to keep me company...". I questioned, "Children? Where are they? I see no youth in these eerie cliffs.". He chuckled and pointed upward to a ceiling filled with orchids "These are my children", he said in an aged tone "They kept me company through these ages, I chanced upon them when I run ashore here and it has been just us all these years.". I took a moment to reply "If I may ask could I have one of your children you see I travel to help an old lady in Coimbra to fulfill her last request." I felt rude asking an old man such but still waited for his reply. Then he spoke "Yes you may since you are such a kind young man but may I ask a favor as well" I replied,"Surely old one anything". He coughed and said "I grow old and may not be able to watch over my children any longer so may I ask that you visit them once in a while to keep them company I am sure they won't cause you any trouble". "I will", I replied shortly. "Thank you", he said at last as he vanished into thin air. I rose to my feet spooked but then dropped in fatigue. I spent the night in the hut and rose refreshed in the morn I climbed the ladder and took one orchid. I looked closely at it its wavy form and bluish petals reminding me of the sea it's delicate scent reminiscent of the oceans. I potted it and climbed down. I stood in front of the hut knelt and thanked the old man. I stood up and continued on my journey.
I walked yet again to the waypoint headed to Dr. Torche's Mansion as I arrived I remembered the days I had here wandering around destroying malfunctioning robots and helping around the house, I knew I saw flowers around here in the garden I said to myself. I walked around the garden and suddenly remembered where I saw the flowers and rushed over. When I arrived there I saw a patch of the Moonlace placed nicely around the lakeside of the mansion. As I was about to pick one Moonlace up I saw Cayenne a butler robot from the mansion emerge his rifle pointed at me, alarmed I halted my actions then he spoke, "AHHHHHH YOUNG MASTER ... FROM THE ... FAMILY ... PLEASE DON'T PICK THE FLOWERS THE DOCTOR WISHES THAT THEY BE LEFT ALONE" Cayenne then lowered his rifle and watered the flowers. "Cayenne might I ask for a flower I need it urgently" I said calmly. "I CANNOT COMPLY TO YOUR' REQUEST YOUNG MASTER IF YOU SO URGENTLY NEED THEM I YOU MAY ASK THE DOCTOR IF YOU MAY HAVE ONE". I ventured in the mansion's eerie halls avoiding most of the robots gone berserk I made my way up to the second floor into the library, I thought how huge this place was for someone to live in and eventually made it to the good doctor's lab. I knocked on the door spoke my name as a custom since he didn't entertain visitors often and was very cautious of who knew he was alive. He bid me to enter and upon entry he asked, "What brings you here I had thought you were done helping here?" I replied "I'm just here to pick a flower as a favor you wouldn't mind if I did would you?". After a minute he said, "Hmm, you don't expect those to be free right? I just have a simple favor bring me 300 otite pieces so i can make new power packs for my loyal servants and would you mind killing 50 wild dogs they seem to trample on the flowers." I got on my feet and said "Alright this will be easy." I set out to do the doctor's errand and after a few hours I gave him what he needed. "Hmm very good...", he muttered "Here you may have this one. I had Cayenne get this one delicately", he said as he gave me a single moonlace I took it and placed it in the pot "Thank you, I'd love to stay and chat but I have a mission to finish". "Very well take care, you know... my daughter loved these flowers I guess that is all i can do for her now that she is gone...". I left the mansion with the flower at hand I felt sorry for the good doctor though maybe that is why I stopped pioneering for a while and helped around before.
I left for Joaquin in high spirits just 3 more to go to say the very least I got there after an hour as I stepped on the barren and desolate land, the smell of fire and brimstone in the air mixed with a feeling of complete randomness in my mind an instinct maybe... that this was not going to be easy... I ventured inward the volcano's closed paths a plateau everything seemed so rough I began thinking what kind of flower would live in this environment a few hours had passed and I still had nothing. No sight of a flower anywhere my journey here and search seemed for naught so I asked a nearby rescue knight where I might find such flora her only reply was that in her stay here she had heard of none. I then asked a miner nearby he said he had seen one deep in the mine encased in a rock, he related his experience to me I thought to myself how could such thing happen. I only came up with a single conclusion it was that long ago this place used to be a fertile plain only to have been turned into a volcano all these centuries past I thanked him and continued walking around. I thought of breaking stones an entire afternoon there it seemed hopeless when at last I was about to give up I kicked a rock and when it broke, I saw something inside it at first i failed to notice it then when I got closer I saw unmistakably it was a flower I carefully removed the flower from inside the rock and looked at its features, it strangely resembled an orchid its petals gray yet its stem was brown I potted it and decided to leave. This place really creeped me out.
Next on the agenda was the Millet Sunbloom I could easily fathom it's name has something to do with the corn in Ustiur. "MMmm corn" the thoughts surrounded my head I liked corn hence the frequesnt trips to Ustiur I helped the cultivation of the fields quite often as to be known as the "Corn man" of Ustiur. The name although quite funny has netted me a good yeild of corn on my visits to the granary, to share with friends and family on special occasions. I headed to Coimbra greeted the old lady as I passed I told her that i have only 2 flowers left to find, she wished me luck as I left. I boarded the Pinta headed for Ustiur the breeze of the sea hit my face it's mist heavy and hard seemed to say something might be wrong I shrugged the feeling off. A few hours later I landed upon Ustiur's port and headed straight for the farm. I greeted Estevan there "You're early this month. What's up?", he replied "I just came to see the corn stocks, and have a side agenda to do here as well.", I casually replied. I walked around a bit the place seems so different... I could say it is a town now unlike when I first got here things we in disarray everywhere pioneer's being drafted to protect the Base Camp now it seems so calm."Hey! If you have nothing to do why don't you help me scatter the fertilizer on the corn." I heard Estevan call out to me. I got up and walked toward him "I don't mind", I said as i picked up a sack of fertilizer. I spent the afternoon laying fertilizer on the ground so the corn might grow well. I noticed that the corn seemed close to harvest time. I got out during nightfall and asked Estevan when harvest day was. "Hehehehehe, well harvest day is when the flower sprouts during dawn the corn stalks are then ready to harvest perfectly. I expect it to come tomorrow." he chuckled as he said that "Good then I hope the harvest will be plentiful.", I said "Why don't you wake up early tomorrow and watch the flower sprout", he said jokingly "I intend to that flower is the reason I went here early", I said in a serious tone as I walked to my cabin. Tired I drifted off to sleep I braced myself to wake up before dawn... When I woke up the sky was still tinged purple I yawned as I walked over to the farm. I caught Estevan sitting on his wooden chair "Mornin to ya. I didn't think you were seious with this flower watching thing" ,he said happily "*yawn* I was this thing is serious" I said sleepily. It was a good 10 minutes till dawn. I sat on the ground awaiting the flower to sprout and bloom. I sat intently till dawn... As dawn struck I looked at the fields. The Sunbloom sprouted from the ground and bloomed almost instantly I looked at it in awe never knowing things like this could happen. "Heheheheh, amazing isn't it I first saw it when I was waiting for harvest day once and ever since it showed good harvest it seems like a miracle if you don't move it it wilts the next day though, but it grows during harvest again", he said with a smile "I see mind if I take this one?", I said he just nodded. We went to harvest the corn the entire morning and before noon we were finished. I took my share bid my goodbyes and headed for Coimbra. As I got there I gave the corn to an awaiting family assistant. I sat down after having arrived. I only had a single flower to find the it would be finished. I looked at the sky smiling...
The last flower the hardest to obtain... in the frozen untamed tundra of Katovic I deemed it suicidal to go there alone... I needed help. I approached the family home asking for help I caught a few of them sneaking the corn I got from Ustiur out of the kitchen. Dinnertime was closing in fast I decided to raise my request during dinner when the family was all present. During the course of dinner I wqas able to ask two family members to go with me. They said "Riel, you sure about this??", Hiros the family scout asked "Yeah all that work for a flower? You've gone over the deep end man!", Lune one of the fighter twins said "Well it was my decision you don't really have to go with me if you feel that way!", I said. "No way man if you go alone you'll die, we'll help since we're family" the both replied. With that out of the way we headed for Katovic. We asked the Rescue Knights of the area if they saw such flora as soon as we got there. They told us that flora were everywhere in Katovic usually buried under all the snow and ice. We bid the outpost goodbye and looked around the monsters we're tough as nails. But after a few hours we found a flower encased in ice. We immediately left the area and headed for home. We tried to thaw it out using regular means but it wouldn't just thaw out. As I placed the flower close to my bag it reacted to the other flowers. The closer I placed it the faster it thawed. As the final flower thawed I placed it in the pot the flowers' sat there gently in the pot the way they looked just caught me in awe. I couldn't believe I missed this all. I felt a huge accomplishment as I finished.
I returned to the old lady in Coimbra. I passed the pot of flowers to her. She thanked me kindly and bid for me to wait awhile. I had nothing to do so I waited for a few minutes. A bit later. She gave some potion bottles and the flowers back. "Here take this and my thanks the potion here contains the new world's essences the flowers can make one of the potions a day the rest of these were just unfinished from all the years ago. Thank you you have helped an old woman finish her last wishes.", She said as she left. She then left the spot I met her and went off I took the potions back to my family and the flowers too... I then learned not to take things for granted. I felt better about pioneering since then treating every experience an adventure...
